Finally putting all of the speculation (Kanye West?!??!??!) to rest after a year, Dior announced today that Raf Simons will be taking over as artistic director, replacing John Galliano before he was fired following his anti-Semitic rant in a Paris bar last year. The house will formally announce it this Wednesday. Although everyone’s name has been on this list, once Raf was fired from Jil Sander after receiving nothing but rave reviews, we began to think it was because he would fill this post. Besides, with his calm, reserved demeanor, Simons almost the exact opposite of the brash, brazen Galliano, who revamped Dior when he was appointed but often had to issue apologies for his actions throughout the years. What are your thoughts? Do you think Dior made the right choice?

You can stop marking your calendars…at least for now! Marant has arrived, and its got everyone covered. For the gals cruising to the beach we have great casual basics with an edge like the tie dye jumpsuit, or the oversized short sleeved jacket. If you love Isabel for her embellished works of art we’ve got the embroidered shorts and sequined dresses, or throw on these sick track pants with the strappy heel for a sexy, sporty vibe! Whatever your schedule is, make sure to come into Curve to score the goods while they’re still here.
Nicola Formichetti is once again pushing the digital envelope, making the gap between fashion and technology that much smaller – he will be live streaming from his showroom while he fits models, approves hair and makeup, makes final changes to the collection, even down to checking the guest list before the men’s fall 2012 runway show, all live via Ustream. Nicola is no stranger to utilizing technology as a medium of creative expression, (I mean, have you seen the Vogue Hommes Japan iPad app?!?!), however here he dares to capture the live, raw, sometimes tense but ever exciting experience of producing a fashion show as it happens. He even takes it a step further, allowing fan reaction and feedback to factor in his final creative decision. The schedule is below, so either watch on Ustream or Facebook and become a part of fashion history!
- 11am CET / 5am EST: Production Meeting
- 3pm CET / 9am EST: Hair & Makeup
- 5pm CET / 11am EST: Nicola Q&A with fans on Ustream chat!
- 6pm CET / Noon EST: Press Meeting
- Model fittings will be going on all day as well!
