The Showrooms

When I come to London to shop, it’s always unfortunately short.  However I get to go to Burberry, seriously one of the most amazing showrooms in the world, and I get to spend time with some of my dearest friends which is a huge plus.  Here’s some snaps from my short but sweet trip to London town…..

After my quick trip to London, I landed in Milan to do a little shopping for the stores.  I love visiting young talent like Augustin Teboul, whose neogothic pieces are a hit at Curve,  as well as established houses like Francesco Scognamiglio who are masters of the craft.  Besides, no trip to Milan is complete without a stop at 10 Corso Como for little shopping and nosh!!  I captured some of my favorite moments before jetting off to Paris for my week-long stay.  Ciao!!!

FOLLOW THE BUYERS: MUGLER

October 6, 2012

Mugler is always one of the most exciting appointments of Paris Fashion Week.  The most amazing development of all (besides the sick as shit collection, of course)??   Nicola Formichetti is designing a limited edition tricolor Muglerette bag for Curve’s 15th anniversary!!!!!!!!!! So get your name on the list QUICK!!!

Seriously, Christopher Kane’s collection for Spring is so sick.  Never mind the out of control iridescent walls in the showroom (that Christopher did himself) – we’re talking embroidered and embellished chiffons, puffy quilted chic biker jackets, a dress made completely out of rubber jelly and a Frankenhoodie?  Done and done……..

We are absolutely obsessed with Anthony Vacarello and his Spring collection blew us away!  We especially loved the shoes he did in partnership with Giuseppe Zanotti, shown below.  However our favorite part was seeing his inspiration board for the season – with pictures of Anja Rubik, the late LouLou de la Falaise, Madonna, and even Michelle Pfeiffer as Elvira Hancock in Scarface…..

See some of Spring after the jump!

Once again our friends Anna, Barbara, and Antonio from the British Fashion Council came to Ace Gallery to showcase their best and brightest emerging designers for the London SHOWrooms.  Nevena and new assistant buyer Dorian :) perused collections already bought, like Mary Katrantzou and Marios Schwab, but also wrote new ones like David Koma and Dominic Jones…..

What do Donatella Versace, John Galliano, and now Burberry‘s Christopher Bailey have in common?  They have served as the chair of London’s Fashion Fringe competition.  Fashion Fringe was founded by internationally renowned fashion writer Colin McDowell in conjunction with events IMG Fashion Worldwide as a platform for the development and launch of young design talent, and next year marks their 10th anniversary.    Bailey, who will chair through 2013,  will judge, select and mentor three finalists, then name the winner who gets to show their collection during London Fashion Week.  Previous winners include Erdem, Basso & Brooke, and Curve favorites Aminaka Wilmont.
