Carine Roitfeld is putting together an ‘ALL BLACK EVERYTHING” fashion show for the amFAR Cinema Against AIDS party in Cannes next week. Based on the what Roitfeld considers the “perfect black wardrobe”, looks have already been donated from Balenciaga, Chanel, Givenchy, Christopher Kane, Alex Wang, and more, and will be auctioned off after the show as a whole lot. Who’s buying all of those pieces…together? A super-rich sample size socialite or someone who’s going to flip it on eBay is our guess….either way, we wish it was us!!!! And no, the Jay-Z reference doesn’t imply his involvement, although it’s never too late to donate a performance for charity…..hint, hint…..

The only thing more inspiring than Peter Marino himself, is his architectural abilities. Andy Warhol’s townhouse was just the start for this powerhouse. Since then, Marino has been the man responsible for the aesthetic perfection behind stores like Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and currently working on CELINE NYC!!! Marino designed the insane Chanel Tower in Ginza, Tokyo, and also the brand’s flagship stores in New York, Osaka, Hong Kong, Paris, and Beverly Hills. Marino started his design firm in 1978 in New York City, and the rest is history. Because of Marino’s interior and exterior works of art, he’s been consistently mentioned among the top 100 architects in Architectural Digest, and was named most influential person by New York Magazine in 2006. Staying true to his innovative style of work, the iconic architectural mastermind shows no qualms in his personal style either. Always clad in leather pants, boots, and muscle hugging tees, Marino ain’t nothin’ to mess with.

New obsession alert! Friends Tatiana Santo Domingo and Dana Alikhani are offering a globally conscious (and correct) shopping venture called Muzungu Sisters. I met the girls last Paris Fashion Week, and bought some pieces including an emerald green velvet jacket I can’t live without! The site is a portal for chic little findings they’ve sourced from their travels all over the globe, hence the name (Muzungu is Swahili for traveler or wanderer) . Think an online souk that showcases the amazing abilities of artisans all over the world, promotes fair trade practices, and helps to stimulate their economies as well!
The pair’s newest product is an exciting collaboration with Missoni and CB Made In Italy! Cute little loafers with the unmistakable Missoni zigzag, and proceeds benefit the Small Steps Project, an organization that delivers shoes and hygiene kits to children who live on trash dumps. The shoes debut at the Sisters’ pop up in Paris now through April 26th and on their website, www.muzungusisters.com. Charities that help less fortunate children around the world are very close to my heart, so please log on and shop to make a difference in your look and in the world!
xx,
Nevena

It’s not that we’re over classics like the Celine leather tote, or the Balenciaga city bag…but we gotta give credit where credit’s due and that’s with ROCHAS. The simple shaped bags pack a sophisticated punch, and the modern color blocking adds an unexpected contrasting edge. We’re loving how versatile the tote is and how easily it integrates into anyone’s wardrobe regardless their aesthetic. It’s all about moving away from the expected in our world and ROCHAS is the way to do it.
The month of March is abuzz with all things Gaultier! If you find yourself anywhere in or near San Francisco between now and August, do yourself a favor and attend the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the De Young Museum! Gaultier is notorious for putting on the most memorable runway shows of Paris Fashion Week and that creative energy has been encapsulated here for everyone to experience. The exhibit, which features over 140 of Gaultier’s couture, ready to wear, and costume design pieces, features talking mannequins that sing, tell stories about the inspiration behind the pieces that they’re wearing, and more! INSANE! You’ll find that he dressed your favorite musicians and actors on and off screen, and there’s a whole section dedicated to Madonna! Not to mention Gaultier has 35 years of excellence under his (corset) belt, and to see this level of couture craftsmanship up close is really a once-in-a -lifetime experience. It is definitely not to be missed!! More images after the jump….

“On the way to the Viktor & Rolf show”
Co designers and filmmakers Stephanie Danan and Justin Kern collaborated with Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and actress Élodie Bouchez on their newest short film. This one, featuring the Spring 2012 collection of lightweight silks, cashmeres, and furs, was filmed in Morocco and Belgium and picks up where the Fall 2011 short film left off. This season’s short was inspired by 70s sci-fi and horror films, such as Altered States and The Man Who Fell To Earth, and Stanley Kubrick movies. Bangalter, who is married to Bouchez, even went so far as to use the same vintage lenses that Kubrick used when filming Barry Lyndon in 1975.
The short is visually stunning and really conveys the spirit and mood of this season’s collection! What are your favorite looks?

It’s a beautifully shot little slice of a fairy tale that will put a smile on your face! And the diamonds are BEYOND……one can dream….
