In “we never saw that coming” news, Valentino hired Terry Richardson to shoot their latest accessories campaign. The image is shot in Terry’s signature style, a high contrast blown out image which really plays up the punch of the rock stud styles (and the rock star photographer’s tattoos). We give it a huge thumbs up and applaud creative directors Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s new direction from the hazy aesthetic we’ve come to expect from a Valentino ad. What do you think?
Our founder, Nevena Borissova, styled a Spring 2013 editorial featuring the hottest graphics of the season against the art-covered walls of Miami’s Wynwood Arts District with photographer Leonardo Corredor. Little did she know then that Wynwood Rising would land in Vogue Brasil along with a feature on her and how she’s built CURVE! Our friends at Image Amplified were kind enough to feature the shoot on their website, and we couldn’t be prouder of Nevena! Enjoy some bonus behind-the-scenes pix of the incredible art after the jump! Big thanks goes to Leonardo, Brandon Fogel from CURVE Soleil, Virginia Le Fay, Karina @ Front Management, El Chan Guri, Jona Cerwinske, Sancrisabel, Brisky Gallery, Dorst Gallery, and a special muito obrigado to Vogue Brasil!
We’re living for the fashion videos for Spring! Case in point: Raquel Allegra‘s latest for her Spring 2013 collection. An aquatic tribal ritual highlights her flowy, ethereal pieces for the season in an expressive and powerful way! Quite unlike any video we’ve seen this season and we’re so proud of our Raquel! Find her Spring 2013 pieces at all Curve locations now!
DIE!!!! Georgia Hardinge premiered the short film for her SS13 collection entitled “STILL” during London Fashion Week and it’s absolutely breathtaking. Inspired by the famous Surrealist art of Gustav Klimt and Freudian theories of how the inner mind works, the underwater dancer’s fluidity is amazing to watch! It was an absolute hit in London, so stay tuned for pictures from the appointment in Paris on Instagram!
McQueen has released their official video for the Fall 2012 collection, directed by David Sims and featuring Suvi Koponen and the stunner shades of life. Is it us, or does this kinda remind you of a Crystal Castles video? By the way, we’ve got some new Fall McQueen pieces at Curve NYC, Curve Soleil, and Curve SF right now!!!!
Alber Elbaz has opted not to use runway models for the Lanvin Fall campaign, instead choosing to feature real women and men, ranging in age from 18 to 80. The images by Steven Meisel runs the human gamut as Alber took each subject’s story into account before deciding the theme of their portait in the apartment-like setting. Alber tells WWD:
“I was interested to bring these clothes back to the street somehow, and seeing how they look on different ages, different sizes. It felt like a crazy family, and I like that.”
Rumors are that the portraits include an immigrant, a waiter, and an elderly woman who always wanted to be a model. Alber made her wish come true.
Here at Curve we have a slightly unhealthy obsession with Erin Wasson. Not only is she one of the sickest models to ever do it, she’s also a great client of the store and super friendly. So when these images appeared in our inbox we were super stoked because One Teaspoon is also one of our fave lines at Curve! With One Teaspoon’s cute separates and Erin’s rock and roll style, it’s a marriage made in heaven. Especially for us! Now maybe she’ll step up those store visits now…..

From being honored by LycéeFrancaise to the success of his groundbreaking exhibit in San Francisco, Gaultier is the name on everyone’s lips this Spring! Here’s the behind the scenes video for the new Gaultier-designed Coca Cola Light bottles unveiled yesterday, his first product as the European creative director for the brand in Europe. amid scenes from the Fall 2012 runway show in Paris that we died over. They remind us a bit of his perfume bottles, which also remind us of some of his models….he def stays true to his brand, that’s for sure. Which bottle is your favorite?
Fannie Schiavoni’s Spring 2012 collection has arrived and we cannot get enough! You’ve no doubt seen her pieces on Rihanna and Lady Gaga, and this season’s offerings have pushed the boundaries even further. Building on her use of scales and chain mail as the heart of her collection, she’s now included clear and ombré PVC elements – giving the medieval armor-reminiscent pieces a softness never seen before in her work. These pieces are the perfect Valentine’s Day accoutrements and go great with Spring brights, but are in limited supply so come to Curve and armor yourself for Spring!
Co designers and filmmakers Stephanie Danan and Justin Kern collaborated with Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and actress Élodie Bouchez on their newest short film. This one, featuring the Spring 2012 collection of lightweight silks, cashmeres, and furs, was filmed in Morocco and Belgium and picks up where the Fall 2011 short film left off. This season’s short was inspired by 70s sci-fi and horror films, such as Altered States and The Man Who Fell To Earth, and Stanley Kubrick movies. Bangalter, who is married to Bouchez, even went so far as to use the same vintage lenses that Kubrick used when filming Barry Lyndon in 1975.
The short is visually stunning and really conveys the spirit and mood of this season’s collection! What are your favorite looks?
One of our favorite collections will have a reduced role in the upcoming Fall shows at Paris Fashion Week. Why, you ask? Pheobe Philo, the house’s creative director, is expecting her third child in April and wants to take it easy, WWD reports. The house has opted for a more informal presentation, possibly even in their showroom, however they will keep their original time slot on the calendar on March 4th at 1pm. While we’re sure the collection will be beautiful no matter what, we always look forward to Céline’s runway show…. but April’s production is obviously way more important*
This lovely video gives a behind the scenes peek into photographer Dominique Isserman shooting the latest Chanel Fine Jewelry ad campaign…..I mean, what could be more romantic than walking hand in hand with your lover in the most romantic city in the world, happening upon the Chanel store and having a Chanel diamond engagement ring on your finger?! It’s a beautifully shot little slice of a fairy tale that will put a smile on your face! And the diamonds are BEYOND……one can dream….
Happy birthday, beautiful Kate! To honor the born day of one the greatest supermodels of our time, enjoy this video by Inez and Vinoodh of a camera spying on Kate as she shoots the Balmain Fall 2010 campaign adorned with haunting illustrations by Jo Ratcliffe and Bouwine Pool for Sherbet. Voyeurism at it’s finest!
