Taking a page from Christopher Bailey’s book, today Valentino Garavani and longtime collaborator Giancarlo Giammetti announced the launch of the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum, a career spanning exhibit in the form of a downloadable desktop application (the first of its kind from a renowned fashion house). The website, valentino-garavani-archives.org, just went live with this short video teaser of the expansive retrospective which, in real life, would require more than 107,500 square feet of space . Says Giammetti about the exhibit to WWD: [click to continue…]

Guy Starkman and Darren Dzienciol’s new venture, Sherbourne, opens tonight in West Hollywood. The restaurant is nestled behind Jerry’s Famous Deli on Beverly Boulevard, which is also owned by Guy.
The small open space with dark wood panels and leather booths is reminiscent of a log cabin den and a rustic outdoor living room at the same time, part of it’s homely charm. I asked Darren about the inspiration behind the space behind Jerry’s -
We wanted it to feel like an extension of The Beverly, a rustic style tavern serving fine comfort food with amazing quality ingredients and presentation. Also, we wanted it to feel intimate and hard to find, like you only know about it if you’re told by one of us.
The cuisine is mostly American, with some surprising European twists sure to please even the most discerning palate. My favorite?? The whipped potato bar, where you can get your choice of three different potatoes whipped on the spot to dress up with a surprising array of toppings (Brown sugar? Oreos, anyone??) in lieu of the standard bread and butter starter baskets. For this new gem to be behind another restaurant, it’s definitely light years ahead of most***

Our friends over at Treats! Magazine are hosting a signing party for Stephan Würth’s new book, Ghost Town, tomorrow night at Smudge Studio. The stark and haunting black-and-white desert images juxtaposed with beautiful nude women makes for a classic coffee table book for those who like theirs a little on the Route 66 side :) The 2nd issue of our favorite new magazine will also be available for purchase, and if you know anything about anything you’ll snatch up a copy quick because they always sell out! See you there!!

I recently got the amazing opportunity to attend Seoul Fashion Week in Korea! Scoping out the scene in Seoul Fashion Week, I saw a very interesting representation of the various types of Korean street style. There was a focus on juxtaposing patterns, styles, and fabrics, as well as a very androgynous approach to dressing; it became über apparent that Koreans have a style all their own.
