Nevena’s got a brand new bag – she’s now a trend forecaster for MODELINIA:  the first global media brand dedicated to the best of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle through the eyes and experiences of the world’s most popular supermodels!  After they fell in love with Nevena’s “On The Road” editorial, Modelinia asked Nevena to lend her sartorial sense of style to the supermodel-centric blog  and report on what she sees the runway set wearing the world over each week.  First up – Candy Kane!   Click the image above to shop some of the season’s best brights from Curve, and stay tuned to see what model tendencies Nevena spies with her little eye*

A huge trend for Spring (and one of my personal favorites) is neon brights! You’ve seen it all over the runways and now every model is interpreting it in her own way. Some opt for the statement pieces in rainbow inspired bright colors from Alexander Wang, or the killer Erickson Beamon neon tribal insanity. Others use neon accents in bags like the Celine Nano, the Christian Louboutin Pigalle pump, or a J-Crew fluorescent pink deep V Tee. The key to the look is pairing them with neutrals and mixing them in a “tri-color block” of black and white. How would I wear it? I choose the leader of the pack: Christopher Kane, whose ‘Moto’ jacket in bright acid yellow I can’t stop wearing! No matter how much (or little) you want to turn up the volume on your look with brights, there’s a way for everyone to wear this trend and look current.

Tim Van Steenbergen’s latest collection has touched down at Curve, however fans will notice a huge difference this season over others’ past – BOLD COLOR. [click to continue…]

Fannie Schiavoni’s Spring 2012 collection has arrived and we cannot get enough!  You’ve no doubt seen her pieces on Rihanna and Lady Gaga, and this season’s offerings have pushed the boundaries even further.   Building on her use of scales and chain mail as the heart of her collection, she’s now included clear and ombré PVC elements – giving the medieval armor-reminiscent pieces a softness never seen before in her work. These pieces are the perfect Valentine’s Day accoutrements and go great with Spring brights, but are in limited supply so come to Curve and armor yourself for Spring!

Spring Roundup: NEON DREAMS

February 11, 2012

Remember when we turned our back to the fashion of the 80’s?  Well, we may have abandoned the hair and make up entirely, but we’ve found ourselves looking over our shoulder yearning for the neon of the time period.  Lo and behold, what goes around comes around and neon has made its way back into our closets.  Right now we’re coveting anything bright enough that makes you feel like you need to bust out the SPF.  Lines like Christopher Kane, Jenni Kayne, Erickson Beamon, and our very own Curve line are giving us everything we imagined in our neon dreams.

Spring Roundup: WHITE LIGHT

February 11, 2012

There’s nothing more stunning than a woman in white.  While white is commonly disregarded as a non-color, or on reserve for that “special day”, at Curve, we’ve engaged in a serious love affair with it.  Head to toe white is not only polished and sophisticated but paired with edgy jewelry like Made Her Think, or the dope body chains by Londoner Fannie Schiovani, it completely transforms the look into a sexual white Matrix.  All we’re seeing over here is nothing but white light.

For our laid back girl who’s comfort is most important to them we’ve been channeling a flirty, free spirit look.  Designers like Isabel Marant and denim line Citizens of Humanity took this very approach in their collections for resort.  Adorned with a tessellation of floral print that has undeniable warmth that leaves you nostalgic for that childhood fantasy of running through, so ladies always remember to stop and smell le fleurs.

Maria Buccellati, Faith Connexion’s brand ambassador, has teamed up with model and socialite Annabelle Dexter-Jones for the company’s Fall 2012 capsule collection, and Nevena has just secured it for Curve NYC.  Why Annabelle?  As Buccellati puts it, “she has that ‘It’ girl quality that can bring so much brand recognition for us in the United States.”

The collection will be young but slightly boyish, like a Parisian schoolgirl who has not quite found her femininity yet – a look we can’t get enough of!  Annabelle credits old family photos, and even school uniforms as her inspiration:

“We wore these green plaid skirts and we would have to get down on our knees so they could check the lengths in school.  I was always the one trying to change the uniform in some way. I always got in trouble for it, too,”

We’re very excited to represent this collaboration as Curve NYC!  Stay tuned for more images and updates as we receive them…..this collection will no doubt be a huge success with the Soho fashion set!

Co designers and filmmakers Stephanie Danan and Justin Kern collaborated with Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and actress Élodie Bouchez on their newest short film.  This one, featuring the Spring 2012 collection of lightweight silks, cashmeres, and furs, was filmed in Morocco and Belgium and picks up where the Fall 2011 short film left off.  This season’s short was inspired by 70s sci-fi and horror films, such as Altered States and The Man Who Fell To Earth, and Stanley Kubrick movies.  Bangalter, who is married to Bouchez, even went so far as to use the same vintage lenses that Kubrick used when filming Barry Lyndon in 1975.

The short is visually stunning and really conveys the spirit and mood of this season’s collection!  What are your favorite looks?

So incredible!  Katie Grand and Ruth Hogben’s latest short film for Louis Vuitton via LOVE Magazine not only mirrors the cotton club (and candy colored) theme of Marc Jacobs’ own Spring 2012 collection, but is one of the most charming fashion vids we’ve seen in a long time and a fitting prelude to the Louis Vuitton exhibit opening next month in Paris.  Even perfect in its imperfections – you forgive the models for being offcue in some of the choreography because they’re so cute and having so much fun, this powdery, feathery treat puts a smile on your face and a tap in your toes!  Speaking of toes, we’d LOVE to slip ours into the button strap open knee high boots…..spy any must haves of your own for Spring?

In what seems like endless efforts to push the digital envelope, Theyskens’ Theory just announced that they will live-stream their Fall 2012 runway show at the Park Avenue Armory on their website on February 13th at 12pm Eastern/9am Pacific.   Here’s the bonus: the stream will also be mobile-friendly, so if you’re not near a computer you can still watch with little interference!  We carry Theyskens’  Theory in our San Francisco store and will be live tweeting during the show, so watch with us and tell us which looks you like the best!
