Curve Hosts Inaugural Style Clinic at Soho Beach House

December 28, 2011

Long a fan of the trend herself, Nevena hosted a Style Clinic at the Soho Beach House in Miami discussing the menswear trend in women’s fashion, and how it came from a choice to be daring to a way of standard acceptable way of dressing for women.  Starting from the origin of the suit itself, Nevena traced the trend from Louis the XIV and Charles II of England 400 years ago.  She then discussed the early pioneers of cross dressing, like Claude Cahun, Marlena Dietrich, Coco Chanel, and Katharine Hepburn WWII, the one time that women dressed like men out of necessity rather than preference,  the 60s and 70s, when Yves Saint Laurent‘s Le Smoking made it’s debut in Helmut Newton‘s images, the full on androgyny of Annie Lennox and Grace Jones in the 80s, and the gavroche grunge menswear style of the 90s.  She then discussed how to get the look from a beauty aspect, and visitors got $250 to spend towards their own dandy look and the latest copy of Flaunt magazine.   The clinic was a huge success!  Look for more of these to be happening at a Soho H0use near you!
