Seriously?? I mean, SERIOUSLY?!?!? This is the best lineup we’ve seen in years and cannot wait!!
Now we can balance it so everyone from Curve gets to go, so we don’t have to plan a sick-out!! (just kidding. kinda.) We’re super excited for the headliners obviously, but also SBTRKT, Miike Snow, M83, The Weeknd, Gary Clark Jr., Metronomy, Thunder Cat, Frank Ocean, the list goes on!! We’re curious to see how they will duplicate the show….there’s bound to be some differences between…..however we will be in the house to document the style, the parties, the shows, the disasters and the disco, and everything else in between**********
who are you most excited to see? more importantly, which weekend will you go??

New Hotel alert!! Maggio and Ignazio Cipriani, the two dashing 20-something sons of Giuseppe Cipriani, opened Mr C., at the site of the old Tower Hotel this past summer. The new hoteliers’concept fuses the old world glamour of their family’s brand with new technology and modern amenities. fashioned the rooms and common spaces after comfy residences, choosing again to let Italian design firm Tedeschi provide the decor. Recent guests include Sir Richard Branson and the Missoni family while they were in town for their Rodeo Drive Walk of Style honor, and companies like Departures and Condé Nast Traveler have held events there already. The restaurant features some of the favorites from Cipriani in New York, as well as fresh new California-inspired fare. Look to hear much more about Mr C. in coming weeks, and several fashion houses will hold their awards season events there. Future planned outposts include London, Miami, and New York. In the meantime, we’re going down to have a drink after work tonight to see what all the buzz is about!

Here’s your chance to support young local talent! The Los Angeles Fashion Council has created a Kickstarter campaign to send 5 Los Angeles based designers to London to present their collections at a three-day showcase. Four designers, Alana Hale, Mila Hermanovski, Bryan Hearns, and Curly V, have already been selected and a fifth will be chosen through a Facebook contest with final decision by a panel. They need $10,000 and were at $1225 when we last checked, so they need your help fast as they have til Tuesday (voices carry) to reach their goal. As an added bonus, those who make large donations will get pieces from the designers’ collections so pledge now and help our local talent go global!

Curve’s DJ, DJ 88 (aka Bree Cohen), just became a resident at the gorgeous new Hyde Lounge at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas so she asked me to dress her for the black tie Grand Opening on New Year’s Eve. Since I knew there would be a million girls in dresses and gowns and she’s the only female DJ resident at Hyde, I took a page from Nevena’s Style Clinic at the Soho Beach House and dressed her in a female version of a tux :) We went to Kelly Cardenas Salon for her pompadour, where Bree’s stylist Sara Bryan more than outdid her self on an intricately beautiful pompadour that was masculine in appearance but feminine in construction – very reminiscent of the hair in the Jean Paul Gaultier SS12 runway show, which was one of my favorite shows of Paris Fashion Week. The jacket and shoes are hers, the ceramic bow tie is by Cor Sine Labe Doli, the tux blouse is by Unconditional for Pucca by Curve, her corset is Kiki De Montparnasse, and the trousers are cropped flannel with a cuff (MJ style) by Carven. We opted for the Kiki corset instead of a cummerbund to accentuate her curves, bringing out just the right amount of femininity, and finished with dramatic eyeliner and a matte crimson lip. The look, as well as her set, was a huge success and she was told numerous times throughout the night by men AND women that she was the most stunningly dressed in the room. Big thanks to Bree for being such a sport and believing in my vision for her :) Chalk up another victory for team Curve! Happy New Year!!!
xx,
Adriane

For those of you who didn’t get a chance to catch the 3-story art collective behemoth that is the Mr.Brainwash ‘Art Show 2011″ (or didn’t want to wait in the lines wrapped around the building), consider yourself lucky as January 1st and 2nd have been added as additional viewing days. Inside, you’ll find enlarged sculpture pieces of pop culture figures like Darth Vadar and Mr. Potato Head. He’s also called on scores of other street artists from all over to tag the walls of the abandoned warehouse with their own artwork and signatures. This is a must see as Mr. Brainwash will destroy everything in the exhibit upon closing the doors on January 2nd. And it’s free as well! Opening at 2pm Sunday and Monday. Visit www.artshow2011.com for more information.
